Laidlow macht dabei aus seinen Ansprüchen keinen Hehl: „I’m not coming back to Roth to play it safe. I want to defend the title and be dominant. I want the record.“
Bereits die emotionalen Bilder im Zielbereich 2025 haben gezeigt, welch besonderen Stellenwert dieses Rennen für den Franzosen einnimmt: „Roth is a special place for me. The atmosphere, the crowd, Solarer Berg, it’s impossible not to feel it. Last year showed me what’s possible there, and coming back as defending champion gives me even more motivation to chase that feeling of crossing the line as champion again.”
„Line-Up ist außergewöhnlich“
Mit der Präsentation des Vorjahressiegers ist das vorläufige Profifeld komplett, das nur so gespickt ist mit großen Namen.
Entsprechend groß ist die Vorfreude bei Rennleiter Felix Walchshöfer: „Dieses Line-up ist außergewöhnlich. Wir haben Olympiasieger, Weltmeister, Europameister, Roth-Champions, mutige Debütanten und Athletinnen und Athleten, die für spektakuläre Rennen stehen. Genau das macht Roth aus. Das ist das beste Profifeld in der Geschichte Roths.“
Sieg in Roth so viel Wert wie ein Olympiasieg
30.000 Euro bekommt jeweils der Sieger und die Siegerin in Roth. Das entspricht genau der Prämie, die in Deutschland für eine Goldmedaille bei den Olympischen Spielen in Milan-Cortina ausgeschüttet wird. Das zeigt einmal mehr die Bedeutung des Langdistanzrennens in Roth. Insgesamt werden beim DATEV Challenge Roth über 160.000 Euro Preisgeld ausgeschüttet.
