Joanna Lawn

Sportlich war die Neuseeländerin Joanna Lawn schon immer. Gleich mehrere Sportarten probierte sie während der High School aus. Hängen blieb sie schließlich beim Radsport. In dieser Disziplin vertrat Joanna Lawn ihre Landesfarben bei den Commonwealth-Spielen 1998, wo sie Neunte wurde.

Zuvor hatte Joanna Lawn bereits einige Erfolge auf der Bahn und auch auf der Straße gefeiert. Mit dieser Grundlage in den Beinen wechselte sie 1999 zum Triathlon und bewies ihr Talent auf Hawaii, als die beste Agegrouperin (25 – 29) wurde. Seitdem sind zahlreiche Erfolge hinzu gekommen, unter anderem gewann Joanna Lawn seit 2003 den Ironman New Zealand sechsmal in Folge. Inzwischen hat sich die starke Radfahrerin auch in den anderen Disziplinen verbessert und gehört zu den komplettesten Athletinnen im Feld.
