Maik Twelsiek

Im September 2007 hatte es Maik Twelsiek endlich geschafft: In Madison holte er sich beim Ironman Wisconsin seinen ersten großen Sieg. Ein weiterer folgte zwei Jahre später in Lake Placid, auf Hawaii kommt der gebürtige Ostwestfale inzwischen regelmäßig unter die ersten 15 und ist auf dem Sprung in die Top Ten.

Wie jeder Junge spielte Maik Twelsiek zunächst Fußball. Als der Bolzplatz eines Tages durch die Wechselzone des Exter Triathlons besetzt war, war das Interesse am Dreikampf geweckt. Inzwischen gehört Maik Twelsiek auf der Langdistanz zur erweiterten Weltspitze. Jetzt strebt der Ostwestfale, der in Tucson, Arizona eine neue Heimat gefunden hat, eine Topplatzierung auf Hawaii an.
