Cameron Wurf

Cameron Wurf hat schon zwei Leistungssportkarrieren hinter sich. Bis zum Jahr 2007 war der Australier als Ruderer unterwegs und nahm im Jahr 2004 an den Olympischen Spielen in Athen teil. Im Anschluss ging es für Wurf von den Ruderriemen in den Sattel. Er war als Radprofi unterwegs und feierte dort seine größten Erfolge im Zeitfahren. Die Triathlon-Karriere begann für Wurf erst im Jahr 2015 im Alter von fast 32 Jahren.

Im Jahr 2017 feierte beim Ironman Wales seinen ersten Ironman-Sieg. 2019 kamen mit den Erfolgen in Australien und in der Emilia-Romagna zwei weitere dazu. Durch seine Vergangenheit als Radprofi hat der Australier in kurzer Zeit schon so manchen Triathlon-Radstreckenrekord an sich gerissen. Unter anderem hält Wurf die Radbestzeit beim Ironman Hawaii (4:09:06/2018) und bei der Challenge Roth (4:05:37/2018).

2020 kehrte Wurf auch in den Radsport zurück und steht seitdem beim britischen UCI Protour-Team Ineos Greandiers unter Vertrag und ist nun sowohl im Radsport und im Triathlon aktiv. Dass dieses Konzept durchaus erfolgsversprechend ist zeigte der Austalier im Sommer 2021, als er den Ironman Copenhagen gewinnen konnte und dabei keinen geringeren als Lionel Sanders schlug.
